Ruby Reminisces on the year gone by!! <3 xxx

09. January 2014

As the decorations and candy canes are packed away for another year, we reflect on the year that was 2013 with fond memories. We prepare to embark on a new year, a fresh start, a clean sheet with an open mind (and wardrobe!!)with great excitement for all that is to come in 2014. Join us as we skip down memory and look back on a fantastic year in our little Dollhouse here at Ruby Rouge.

Our little Dollhouse shone in the media spotlight in 2013, appearing on both national TV and in the press for many different events . Our Ruby racegoers stood out amongst the throng with many shortlistings for the coveted “Best Dressed Lady” titles. Our own dollie Edel a.k.a Baby, along with Ruby friend and customer Sonja, appeared in surely every newspaper in Ireland following their shortlisting for “Best Dressed Lady” at Punchestown in April. Edel was also shortlisted at the Curragh in June at the Dubai Irish Derby wearing Doll by Ruby Rouge. Sue Sue Doll, a seasoned racegoer and former “Best Dressed Lady” was also shortlisted a number of times, as were numerous Ruby customers from all around the country. Our very own dollhouse creations from our Doll label featured in many of the top 10 line-ups all over Ireland.

In December we were excited and honoured to take part in an amazing feature for Xposé on TV3. Our Chief Doll Niamh, looking blooming beautiful may we add, spoke about our gorgeous dresses from one of our favourite ever brands, Stop Staring! and the showstopping effect that these feminine beauties create. Top models Sarah Morrissey from Assets and Lena from Andrea Roche Model Agencies looked truly incredible in our war-time figure flatterers which we styled with luxurious faux fur and headpieces from our renowned milliners, creating an old Hollywood glamour look, inspired by legendary actresses Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.

We were privaleged and excited to be nominated for many awards last year, including the “Wexford Retailer of the Year” and the “Retail Excellence Ireland” awards. A huge high-point for us was being shortlisted for the Eircom Spider awards for our online shop, which was relaunched with a new look and “Dolly” feel and is continuing to grow from strength to strength. We are extremely proud of our website and continue to strive to make the Ruby shopping experience as exciting and easy as possible for all you Dolls who live that bit further away and perhaps can not make it in to the Dollhouse as often as you would like to. We will continue to serve up such girly treats as our now legendary “Kate Friday”and “Ruby's Love letter” along with some exciting new ideas that we have up our little lacy sleeves.... watch this space!!

Some of the most influential women in Irish fashion have been spotted in Ruby fashion in the past couple of months. Laura Whitmore and Sinéad Desmond to name but a few, have all been seen looking super chic and stylish. The Girls from Towie, who also visited our stand at the“Pure” trade show and the X-Factor's Sam Bailey and Abi Alton all rock our favourite labels. We have been very lucky to have met with many familiar and well-known faces in the past year with Ms. Whitmore, Yvonne Keating, Holly Carpenter and TV personalities and stylists Brendan Courtney, Cathy O'Connor and Courtney Smith all visiting our Dollhouse to trawl our rails for that special piece this year.

So who doesn't love a good fashion show?! 2013 saw our dolls and our fashion strut down many a runway, from Johnstown Castle to our own Customer nights. In August at Boutique Boulevard the serious fashion credentials of Ruby Rouge were showcased brilliantly, along with our nearest neighbours here on the wonderful Esmonde Street. Our Little street is fast becoming a major style destination for all fashionistas from the south-east and beyond. It gave us great pleasure to be asked to part-take in many fundraising shows and events for clubs and charities in our locality and we enjoyed every second of “doing our bit” to help these worthy causes. We congratulate and thank the organisers of these great events sincerely, your kindness warms our hearts again and again.

Our own blockbuster production of the year took place in March in the picture perfect setting of Marlfield house. The theme was “Willamena Wonka and the fashion factory” and boy did we deliver! Our guests enjoyed an incredible evening of Fashion and delectable delights, surrounded by great friends, with all who attended agreeing that it was a night to remember. Our gorgeous models sashayed through the stately rooms, showing over 120 complete outfits, all lovingly styled by our Ruby Dolls. Many a sleepless night was had in the run up to the show but it was well worth it to see the visual feast come to life on that magical evening in spring, where we saw candy, bubbles and fashion galore. We were whisked back to our childhood and the wonderful world of Wonka's Chocolate Factory by the lifesize charachters, sweet treats, golden tickets and nostalgic music. We can't wait for our 2014 show.... Who knows what the theme may be??

On a more personal note, many of you who know the Ruby dollies know that we are very mixed and eclectic bunch of different personalities and styles, who all just “Click” and have a great time in the Dollhouse whizzing around styling, organising and looking after all of our wonderful customers. We just love to meet all of our stylish Rubettes, listening to your stories and plans for that special event and sharing a giggle or two over a fabulous frock!!

Be warned though! There must be something in the water here in the Dollhouse. The Ruby brood is growing steadily and we are currently awaiting with great anticipation (not seen since the arrival of Prince George last year!!) three new Ruby bambinos! Niamh, Laura and Colette are all expecting their new bundles of joy very soon and Heidi has just returned from maternity leave after the arrival of gorgeous baby Honor last year. We wish all the girlies, their partners and families, the very best of luck! No doubt the new arrivals will be the best dressed kiddies around!!

While some of the Dolls are still bopping to the sound of Queen Bey's “Single Ladies”, the Ruby men have stolen a few and there are now three new additions to the chorus of “He put a ring on it”! Sue Sue, Maeve and Kate are all now sporting big shiny rocks and giving us an excuse to dust off our favourite hats, with Kate kicking off the Ruby wedding fest this summer. What beautiful brides they will all make!! We also wish the girls and their future Mr. Ruby's all the best for a long and happy future together.

All of our dolls, in one way or another, have had a very exciting year! Some progressed further in terms of their qualifications and careers and some have been bitten by the travel bug. We have welcomed a few new Dollies to our little team, namely Maeve, Ciara, Lolly, Aisling, Deirdre and Edel, while saying fond tearful good-byes (for a little while) to Sarah, Clair and Sophie as they take off on their own personal adventures, We miss you girls!! We have had our fair share of stylish occasions to mark graduations, outstanding exam results, engagements and BIG birthdays, with many more to come over the next few months- Christenings, weddings, Ruby events and well-earned nights out. Well.. it would be rude not to give our heaving wardrobes a night on the tiles!!

The beginning of a new year promises so much and 2014 is no different. We can't wait to get our teeth into new trends, fill our wardrobes with beautiful things, and feel so excited about all of our Ruby delights that are lined up for the year. The Dollies minds are constantly whirring with new ideas for shows, customer evenings and fantastic fashion shows along with ways to make your Ruby experience even more enjoyable and exciting than ever! Our Dollhouse is well known for being a creative cauldron and we promise that this year will be no exception, with more shows, shoots, fun, fashion and new exclusive labels than ever before!

We would like to take this oppurtunity to wish all of our Amazing Customers, colleagues in business, your families and friends a very happy, peaceful, prosperous and stylish new year. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your unwavering support, we only get to live in our little Dolly world because of you!!
